Hi akkuanwar38,

Google Home and Google Nest devices are designed to be used on a secure private home WiFi network and not captive portal type networks that require you login through a website.

Some users have used a travel router in this situation but you should always ask the network administrator first before using this option.

Hi folks,

@Cathal_S, thanks for your help in this.

@akkuanwar38, thanks for reaching out. It'll be best if you reach out to your dorm's network administrator to add your Google Nest Mini's MAC address so it can get connected to the WiFi. Here's the guide to getting your device's MAC address: go through the setup process > From the Connect to WiFi screen, tap the 3 dots at the top right > Tap Show MAC Address.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,
Lovely

Hello akkuanwar38,

I appreciate the update. Go ahead and try to set up your Google Nest Mini using a mobile hotspot. Please note that you will need two mobile devices for this setup (one to turn on the mobile hotspot and the other to set up your speaker). You might need to factory reset the device first before going through the configuration process again.

Keep me posted.

Cheers,
Lovely
