nest hub 2 as speaker for chromecast

Hello,

I just discover this forum and i have a question for months...

I have 2 Nest Hub Gen2 in my bedroom. I also have a computer screen on which i plugged a Chromecast so i can stream netflix or disney+ or prime video...

I created a group in the Goolge Home app where i have the Chromecast and the 2 Nest hubs but when i start streaming, there is no sound coming out of the Nest hubs. I managed to have the sound coming out of only one of the two...using a bluetooth dongle. this dingle is plugged into the jack port of the screen.

However i can't imagine that there is no possibility to get the sound out of the Chromecast directly ..and to the 2 devices while they are all in the same audio group.

does anyone have an idea how to do this ?

Thanks a lot for your time !

There isn't a feature or setting for this unfortunately. Chromecast gets the entire audio and video stream, so there is no way to do this.

Hello @David_K ,

Thanks for your answer.

Well, it's weird cause it's possible to create an group and add a Chromecast device to it.  And also when you go to the Audio settings of the Chromecast device, you can assign an audio group to it...so what's the point ?

you can create groups involving other Google devices and sound is sent all over but Chromecast is like ...not part of the Google devices....hmm

True but it only works when you cast audio, not video.

Yes i saw that once but video is on Chromecast and audio is going to the audio group... so that should work.

and it's written...or maybe i understand it wrong ...

"Your music and audio from Chromecast-enabled apps are instantly available to stream."

That means you can cast audio from cast-enabled apps on your phone or tablet, nothing else.

hmm... that's annoying... 😞

maybe it wouldn't be so complicated from Google to update this ? 😛

that would be nice...

It's been many many years since the original Chromecast, and this was a request way back then. Of course, some users have done workarounds with HDMI splitters to take the audio somewhere else but your mileage may vary with those 🙂

it's been many many years and it's not even solved...

I have a workaround anyway , I connect an additional bluetooth speaker to the dongle. but it would be so logic and nice that all devices work together seemlessly. and as you say, after so many years...it's still not done...
