"Sorry cant do that yet" when asking to play music

I have just a Nest Mini (gen 2) .. use it as the speaker for my Nest Doorbell (battery)

I selected youtube as the music provider, but when I ask it to play music, it says "sorry I cant do that yet"

Any idea what I can be doing wrong ?

Thanks for reaching out. No worries, let's get this issue resolved! I understand your concern about your device unable to play YouTube. I would be more than happy to help find a solution. First, I have some quick questions to get a better understanding of this issue.

  • Do you have the YouTube app on your phone?
  • Is your phone and speaker on the same WiFi network?
  • Does your Google Nest Mini show up as connected on the Google Home App?
  • Could you please try to do a reboot and Factory Data Reset on your Google Nest Mini? Are there any improvements? 
    • A factory reset will reset your Google Nest or Home speaker or display to its default factory settings. 
    • Note: This action will clear your data from the device and can't be undone.

Does the Nest mini not work as a standalone device ? I have YouTube on my iPhone, but I’m asking the nest mini to “play music” not sending from the phone

Hi NullMind,

 

Yes, the Google Nest Mini should be able to play music by itself. As long as the Google Nest Mini is on the same WiFi network as your phone, it should be able to play YouTube via voice command or casting from your phone.

 

  • Is your device unable to respond to all voice commands or does this issue only occur when you're trying to use YouTube?
  • Does your Google Nest Mini show up as connected on the Google Home App?
