@gimlet

Perhaps this thread from several years ago will offer some clues:

https://support.google.com/assistant/thread/653157/error-retrieving-necessary-permissions-for-the-go...

If not, perhaps sharing some information on what happened that led you to re-install your Nest Hub Max would lead to suggestions in this forum.

Thank you, I will try those steps again just in case.

The reason I reset it was that it stopped recognizing my linked Spotify account by voice command (still worked casting from the app), even after unlinking and relinking several times.

retried all steps from that link, removed all google play updates, uninstalled, reset etc etc still the same error

@gimlet

No obvious cause jumps out for me.

That suggestion in the 2022 thread (go to settings> apps> app info> google play services> storage> then clear cache) didn't work?  (We don't have Android devices, so I can't speak to whether that suggestion makes sense.)

You could try contacting Support:

1. Go to https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp.
2. Select a category/product family, and type in a brief description of the issue, then click "Next".
3. Select your device from the dropdown, click "Other", then click "Next step".
4. Under "Resources", just click "Next step". (Clicking one of the listed links will bring up a Help page.))
5. Under "Contact options", choose to get a phone call or chat with the team, depending on availability in your country.

Hey there...I am having the exact same issue.  Did you find a solution?

Hi Marcel, kind of but not really- I pretty much destroyed my Pixel messing with the google service and had to do a factory reset not from backup.... still didn't work, same error. In the end used my partner's iPhone to set up the hub, that worked just fine. Pretty pathetic from Google really!
