for some reason this thread keeps on getting closed. 

But the news setting is only USA based and before I got my nest, I could ask my pixel to start my morning routine and it would play Australian new sites. so, the answer is wrong.

so, I am thinking that because this thread has been close twice now it is a known issue, and we are trying to hide the fact that this is happening as a side effect of connecting your nest to your google home account. 

If I get and answer that either says, go to your account setting and click on news or that the news settings only have USA news option I will take it that I am right. 

So, the only fix I am thinking is returning my nest to the store and say it is broken and get a refund and removing the nest from my google home account and resetting my phone fixes the problem.

ok I did some more research it is in news settings under language so the mini nest must of set the language to English united states. I changed it to language English Australian.

This is not the experience we wanted you to have, let me help you. A few things: which Nest speakers are we working with? Can you not play news with your Nest speaker? When did your issue begin? Are you able to play music?  What is the command given and the error message when asking for news?

It would help a lot if you could do a sequential reboot first: 

1. Unplug the power cord of your router followed by your Nest speakers.
2. Plug them back in after 3 minutes.
3. Restarting your phone might also help.

After changing, what language is working? Is it the EN-US or the EN-AU? I suggest you check this guide for more information about our “News” feature and tell me how it goes.

I think I am talking a different language than you.  I would say the problem is fix by changing the language from English  Australia. I bought a mini nest as soon as I connected it, it change the default language to English American. The problem I have now have is that the temperature still set to Fahrenheit, which is really annoying as I have no idea how that works. On top of this you would think if I buy a electronic device in a store it would be set to that regions default setting not some crazy setting that are not relevant to that region . do you have any Idea how to change the temperature  settings ?

For confirmation, your initial concern is about your new Nest Mini not playing Australian news when the morning routine is triggered and can only get US news sources, right? But as you mentioned, the issue is now resolved after changing the language to Australian. What's left is ― you wanted to change the weather unit from Fahrenheit to Celcius? Which I believe Australia uses. Here’s how:

1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
2. Open the Google Home app.
3. At the top right, tap your account.
4. Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap the triangle next to the Google Account, then tap another account or Add another account.
5. Tap Assistant settings > Weather.
6. Choose a weather unit.
