video calls (not group meeting) on nest hub max

I just read the recent history of google duo and google meet but am still confused.

Is it possible to make simple video calls using the nest hub max?   So far, I'm only able to set up video calls through google meet, which requires multiple steps: initiating the meeting on the hub, going into my phone to get the code, then emailing out the code so the recipient can connect.

In other words, is there a way to quickly make a video call through hub max?

I wanted to follow up and see if I could be of any help. Video calling is definitely supported for Google Nest Hub Max. Here are a couple of helpful links that you can check.
