4k Chromecast Remote Jumping: i.e. you click once down, & it continues to move multiple times!

I have seen other people posting the same issue here on this community, however the one in particular has been closed due to inactivity.

I have a two month old 4k Chromecast. Up until very recently it worked without any real problems.

That said in the last week, it has become almost unusable.

We use it to stream on various streaming services.

The issue is that if you click say one icon to the right, it keeps running until it reaches the end of the row.

Then similarly if you click a couple of times say downwards, again it just keep flying down to the bottom of the page.

The batteries have been replaced. The remote has been "deleted" and added back. The remote firmware is up to date. The Chromecast is also up to date with its firmware.

It is incredibly frustrating.

We have the Chromecast in the bedroom, and a Firestick in the living room.

I've had to resort to unplugging the Firestick and bringing it up to the bedroom, because as I've said the Chromecast is pretty much unusable.

Another user reported the exact same issue. They replaced the remote, and it still occurred.

So it seems that it's a software problem, rather than a hardware one.

In many ways I wish that I'd just have bought another Firestick, but I liked the idea of having  "Google TV", unfortunately I feel let down.

It was purchased through Amazon, and I'm sure they'll accept a return, but I'd like to see if there is any possibility of a fix first.

Thanks in advance.

Rich

The only time I have had that specific issue is with a remote that had sticking buttons. You can check if the problem is with the Chromecast or it's remote by either pairing the remote from a different Chromecast (if you have one) with this Chromecast or, if you use an Android phone, you can set that up as a remote for your Chromecast (https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/11221499?hl=en)
