I am getting an error while setting up my account on a new android tv it says cannot authenticate this device on you account. What can I do to fix it?

Thank you for posting in the community. I’m sorry that you’re receiving an error message when trying to set up your Chromecast with your new Android TV. I’m here to help.

Before I begin. I need to ask you a few questions for further assistance:

  • What type of Chromecast do you have?
  • Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app?
  • What Google Account did you use to set up your Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer?
  • Did you receive any error message? If so, what did it say?
  • What device did you use to set up your Chromecast with Google TV or Google TV Streamer?
  • Do you have a dual-band router?
  • Is Chromecast connected to the 5 GHz connection?
  • Where are you located?
  • Do you have physical access to the router in case it has to be rebooted?
