Assistant button on Chromecast remote sometimes triggers "ok Google" on my phone. How and why?

It doesn't happen often just every once in awhile but sometimes when I hit the assistant button to speak to my TV on my Chromecast remote it makes my phone start listening as if I said "ok Google" for a while I thought maybe I was just accidentally hitting something on my phone but I've noticed that it's happened when my phone was nowhere near me as well. It only happens to my phone I also have home speakers but those don't get triggered at all. Not a complaint just more so curious how that's happening

Hey there Cody,

That's a strange interaction! I am not able to re-create it on my end. I imagine what is happening is when you press the Assistant button on the Chromecast Voice Remote to activate the Assistant on the Google TV, it's sending some kind of signal that your mobile device is catching and activating that Assistant as well. I'll go ahead and pass this up to the appropriate team, because I don't imagine that's supposed to be happening!

If you had any more questions or concerns, feel free to let me know, I'm always happy to help!

Thank you,
Jeran
