Hello,
I was using a Belkin - 4-Port USB Type-C Hub with Gigabit Ethernet Adapter to connect an Ethernet cable to the Google Chromecast device. I used a 45-65W power adapter to provide enough power to the hub and the Google Chromecast. The Ethernet cable connected to the USB-C hub is connected to a switch with other devices as well. My internet speed is a 1 Gig internet speed with Frontier.
I have been using this hub for the past year with no issues, but suddenly the Ethernet connection no longer seems to work.
I have tried checking to other devices on the same Ethernet switch and they all have an established connection via Ethernet. I also tried replacing the power adapter with no effect. I tried replacing the Ethernet cable no effect. I tried other Ethernet ports around the house with no effect. I tried disconnecting the USB-C hub from the Chromecast and connecting the USB-C hub to several laptops and they all established an Ethernet connection.
It seems that I have narrowed it down to the Google Chromecast being the issue.

Hi there,
Thanks for reaching out and for being a step ahead of us. Please reboot your Chromecast and your Hub. Resetting the Chromecast might also help.
Regards,
Jennifer

Hello Jenniffer,
Yup. I tried both initially as well. I have even preformed a factory reset.

Hi Idonano93,
Thanks for the swift reply. Could you try to plug in the Chromecast into a different HDMI port on your TV, and on a different TV screen? Also, if you have another USB-C Hub, please try it so we can isolate the issue.
Thanks,
Jennifer

Hello Jennifer,
I have attempted all of the options suggested with no effect. This was partly already tested since I own two Google Chromecast devices that are connected in the same configuration. They both no longer connect via Ethernet with the same brand of USB-C hub (when they once did).
I also bought the Ethernet power adapter for the Google Chromecast sold by Google directly. Ethernet now works on both Google Chromecast devices with the new product, but the speed is being capped at 100MB/s.
This is not the ideal solution. Everything still leads me to believe that the error lies with and update made to the Google Chromecast.

Hi there,
We hear you and we appreciate all your efforts. I'd suggest you submit feedback about this via the Google the Google Home app to let the Google Engineering team know about this. While they won't respond directly back to you, this is the best way to let them know about this. Here's how.
Thanks,
Jennifer
