I've had my chromecast for 2 years and randomly 3 days ago it stopped connecting to the wifi. I haven't changed the wifi at all so I'm not sure why it won't connect. Wifi works perfectly on every other device. So I move the router closer, still didn't work. Unplugged my device for a day, then plugged it back in. Still no luck. Forgot wifi, tried my phones hotspot. Still nothing. Factory reset 6 times and after getting passed being stuck on the G screen, it refuses to connect to the wifi for me to even set it up again. I used tried all 3 HDMI's, switched the power cord, it's not touching other cables. Doesn't work on any of my tvs.

Having the same issues. I noticed the wifi connection constantly cycles between connected and saved. I contacted Google support and they were not able to provide an answer. This might be a new issue they're unaware of or not yet gotten enough reports about. Have three of the chromecast google tv running android 12 with all the latest security patches and firmware updates. None of them work as of today 1/8/2025.

Hi, there!
Thank you for reaching out to the community. I'm truly sorry your Chromecast is not connecting to Wi-Fi after all the troubleshooting steps. I understand it's stuck on the G logo. I'm here to help.
I appreciate you taking the time to move the router closer, unplug the device for several days and then plug it back in, forget the Wi-Fi network, try connecting to a mobile hotspot, and factory reset the device multiple times. Thank you for also letting me know the Chromecast was connected directly to the HDMI port and that you tried switching the power cord. I appreciate all your efforts.
To provide the best assistance, please let me know:
What Chromecast model do you have?
Is the Chromecast plugged correctly into both the TV and a power source?
Has the Chromecast ever worked with this TV before?
Is there an LED light on the Chromecast? If so, what color is it?
Is the TV tuned to the HDMI input where the Chromecast is plugged in?
After the G logo appears, does the screen turn black?
Thank you for your cooperation. I look forward to your response.
Best regards,
Ana

Hello, I have a Chromecast 4k with Google TV. It's plugged in correctly and has worked with my TV for 2 years. The LED light is white and blinks. Then the G logo pops up for about a minute, before turning black. It just keeps rebooting. It is tuned to the correct HDMI channel. I was able to connect to my phone to start the set up once but after failing to connect to wifi, it kept turning on and off.
Thank you

Thank you for your prompt response. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. I'm happy to assist you further.
Before troubleshooting, please ensure your Chromecast is connected to a high-speed internet connection of at least 20 Mbps or higher and let me know if you've recently changed internet service providers.
Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

I have three different ones that do not work standard Chromecast with GoogleTV, Chromecast HD and Chromecast 4K. All of them have the same issue. All connected to the proper power source and have been working for years on the same TV's until last week. Not sure what the LED colors are but I can observe in the Google TV UI Wifi Connection Settings View that the wifi connection is connecting then like one second later disconnecting and then like 5 seconds later reconnecting and disconnecting - again and again forever until the gateway is restarted or the device is factory reset. But then it returns after some time later again. The chromecast device does not restart on its own or anything like that. I tried resetting the chromecast HD device a few times and each time struggled to get and keep a connection during the setup with the Home app. We have T-Mobile 5G Home Internet which might be a factor. The gateway recently got a firmware update ( in December 2024 ). I wonder if they have done something to purposely block these devices from connecting or mistakenly causing them to fail to drop the connection after they connect. I can't fully confirm that the gateway is the issue without being able to trace those connections coming into it and seeing if they force the device to disconnect. Likewise can't confirm that the Chromecast devices are not the issue without seeing the connection details showing a message or error that causes it to reject the connection that has already been established. But what I can confirm is that it does not happen with any other Google TV device that is not a Chromecast on that same network. We have a couple other TVs with Built in Google TV that work fine on the same network and same wifi. And I can also confirm that if we change the connection on any of those Chromecast devices to another Wifi network (i.e. TMobile Cellular Phone Tethering) it then works ok for hours and hours without a disconnect. Obviously it should work normally regardless of the network unless it is specifically being blocked or there is another incompatibility with settings etc... though.

Is there any way to request that Google and T-Mobile work together to figure out where the issue is? I have contacted both and each say the other might be the issue. Not comforting to be seeing this as a consumer.
