Can the sound settings hurt the speakers on the TV?

If you change the sound settings on Chromecast with Google TV, can that make the TV speakers sound tinny or raspy?

It uses technologies your TV supports, like PCM, Dolby Digital, eg.
But the apps use these methods to send sound to your TV.
