Chromecast 4k/Disney+: audio quits on commercials

There is a new development. I've had this Chromecast for months and it never did this.

Chromecast 4k is attached to a Vizio TV. I'm using the Disney+ app.

While watching the Orville they squeeze in a commercial break and sound quits across all apps.  I have to do a system restart in the chromecast to gain sound back.

An odd detail is there's always 2 commercials, the sound drops on the second commercial.

The Chromecast has been updated.

Hi style_front,

Thank you for posting. I'm sorry that your Chromecast loses audio on commercials; this could be frustrating, especially when you are in the middle of a streaming video. Help's here.

Please follow the below steps to isolate the issue:

  • Make sure that all connections are securely plugged in.
  • Just to double check, please make sure that the color LED of your Chromecast is solid white.
  • Try casting from another app.
  • Plug the Chromecast into a different auxiliary port (if available).

If none of the above steps don't work, please perform a factory reset on the device following the below instructions:

  1. While the Chromecast is plugged into the TV, hold down the button on the Chromecast device for at least 25 seconds or until the solid LED light flashes red.
  2. Once the LED light flashes white and the TV goes blank, release the button. The Chromecast device begins the reboot sequence.

Let me know if this helps.

Regards,

Byron
