Chromecast HD – USB mode keeps switching from MTP to Charging after reboot/power disconnect

Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with my Chromecast HD running Android TV 12 (Build: STTL.241013.003).

Issue Description:

Every time I set the USB configuration to MTP in Developer Options, it automatically switches back to Charging mode after a reboot or power disconnection. This behavior prevents me from accessing the device via ADB over USB, even though USB Debugging is enabled.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Go to Developer Options and set USB Configuration to MTP (Media Transfer Protocol).

2. Disconnect the power source or restart th

e Chromecast.

3. Upon booting, check the USB Configuration – it has reverted back to Charging mode instead of MTP.

Expected Behavior:

The USB Configuration (MTP) setting should be persistent after a reboot or power cycle.

Additional Information:

USB Debugging remains enabled after reboot, but the MTP setting does not persist.

Tested on multiple Chromecasts, the behavior is the same.

I have tried different USB cables and power sources, with no effect.

ADB connection over USB is unauthorized, likely due to the forced switch to Charging mode.

There is no option to permanently set MTP in the UI.

Questions:

1. Is this behavior intentional, or is it a bug in the latest firmware?

2. Is there a way to force the MTP setting to persist after a reboot?

3. Can this be modified via ADB or another workaround?

I appreciate any guidance or official clarification regarding this issue.

Thank you in advance!
