Chromecast TV Display Live Feed of Nest Cam Outdoor/Indoor Battery Camera

Have disabled son. Need to monitor him at night.  Purchased Chromecast w/Google TV. Purchased Google Nest Cam Outdoor/Indoor Battery Camera. Setup fine.  Connects fine.

Issue: Chromecast reverts back from displaying the camera live feed, to the home screen after a few minutes.

Need: The Chromecast TV needs to stay on all night, displaying the live feed so I can watch my son as needed.

Question: How do I change settings so that the Nest camera live feed will be displayed without interruption, for as long as I need?

Not sure if: A) This can even be done?  B) The needed changes should be to the camera or Chromecast?

IF this does not work I will be returning the setup as this is the ONLY reason for camera & Chromecast on this particular TV.......

Current Chromecast Limitations:

  • Chromecast with Google TV doesn't have a built-in app to display Nest camera live feed continuously.
  • Using voice commands with Google Assistant times out after a while.

Alternative Solutions:

  1. Google Assistant (with a twist):

    • While not ideal, keep using "Hey Google, show me [camera name]" to turn on the feed. We're working on improvements for Assistant routines to potentially automate this in the future, so stay tuned!

  2. Nest Hub for Continuous Monitoring:

    • Consider a Nest Hub device specifically designed for displaying Nest camera feeds 24/7. It would allow you to monitor your son throughout the night without interruptions.

Addressing Your Concerns:
