Chromecast cannot be seen by my Windows 10 PC

Hello all,

As of yesterday a random event occurred: my PC stopped being able to see my Chromecast. My iPhone can still see it however, and indeed can connect without issues. Doesn't matter what app on my PC I'm trying to cast from, it just won't appear. I've tried Google Chrome, VLC and Soda Player.

I have already tried many different basic troubleshooting methods, including:

- turning everything off and back on: modem router, TV, Chromecast, PC

- factory reset chromecast, new setup

- turning off firewall

- allowing all access to outward casting

- various other windows settings

My PC, Chromecast and iPhone are all connected to the same Wi-Fi network.

I don't think the Chromecast is necessarily faulty, considering my iPhone can still cast to it without issues. For whatever reason my PC just cannot see it anymore.

If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!

Thanks in advance.

Hey there Vrtanes,

These networking issues can be tricky to deal with, so I'd be happy to help you figure this out. First, what model of Chromecast are you using? Either way, make sure your Chromecast and your computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi network band, either 2.4GHz or 5GHz. Then, go ahead and follow the steps you haven't tried in this article.

I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Best regards,
Jeran
