Chromecast something went wrong error

bvinod

I am unable to setup my chromecast with my ipad. It has the latest ios software, I am disabled private wifi address, and have enabled google home local network access.

The home app is able to detect the chromecast device, but when I try connect it to wifi I get the something went wrong error, and it asks me to enabled local network access. However, I have already done that.

Factory resetting my ipad and router did not fix the issue.

What else can I do to resolve this?

Hi bvinod,

Thanks for reaching out and for doing some steps beforehand. Please try the additional steps listed below and let me know how it goes:

  1. Make sure your Chromecast device is within 15 to 20 feet of the setup device and the Wi-Fi router.
  2. Toggle Wi-Fi off and on from the iPad.
  3. Reboot your router.
  4. Reboot your Chromecast.
  5. Reboot your iPad.
  6. Close and then reopen the Google Home app.
  7. Uninstall and reinstall the Google Home app.
  8. Set up the Chromecast on a different mobile device.
  9. Factory reset your Chromecast. Here's a guide: How to factory reset your Chromecast.

Best,

Jennifer
