Chromecast remote only connect via HDMI CEC for audio control - no IR option.
I attemtoed to get support via the support link in the Chromecast manual which routes you to Just Ask! They get you by quoting a 2$ service fee which turns out to be 66$ / month! I called immediately after a demanded a refund which after arguing with the representative for 10min, finally succeeded in getting. That was borderline fraud and at the least an unethical business practice. Google has become a hands off unsupportive company and I'm considering returning everything that I recently bought from them.
