Hi Anthonyplace,
Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. We’ve been getting posts about complaints of different sorts related to BBC iPlayer. Based on your description, YouTube, Netflix, etc. work fine, which means the Chromecast device is working as intended. The software and hardware of the Chromecast device related to 4K functions are working. You may need to reach out to BBC iPlayer support or their community, as there might be users who have answers for this.
I hope this sheds some light on the situation. Let us know if you have other concerns.
Thanks,
Kimy

As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, the Chromecast with Google TV supports UHD resolution on various streaming services, including Netflix and YouTube. However, BBC iPlayer's UHD support may vary, and it's recommended to check for updates on the specific app or device settings. Ensure that both the BBC iPlayer app and your Chromecast are updated to the latest versions to access UHD content if available.

Hi Daniel3-98,
Thanks for joining this thread and sharing your input. If it happens that the Chromecast device is up-to-date, this may need to be addressed with BBC iPlayer support. Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.
Cheers,
