Chromecast with Google TV : Virtual remote

Virtual Remote is not working with Netflix app. For all other apps, the virtual remote is working. But for netflix, navigation and back button is not working.

There was another thread with the same issue, so I'll ask the same questions to better understand what's happening:

  • Is your Google Home app up-to-date?
  • Is your Chromecast with Google TV's firmware up-to-date?
  • Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Netflix?
  • Does this issue occur on any other app?
  • When did this issue first occur?

If the issue is isolated to Netflix, you may want to reach out to Netflix Support to see if they are aware of any issues on their end. I look forward to your response on this, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.

Thanks for getting back on this.

Is your Google Home app up-to-date?

- Yes. My google tv app is also updated. I am using virtual TV remote from Google TV app. The issue is same with multiple phones like onplus and google pixel.

 

Is your Chromecast with Google TV's firmware up-to-date?

- Yes.

 

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Netflix?

- Yes, the issue is persistent.

 

Does this issue occur on any other app?

-No.

 

When did this issue first occur?

- Not sure about the first occurance. My physical remote got damaged and started using virtual remote and i noticed this on the same day i raised this case.

Thank you for letting me know! Would you happen to be able to test if the problem persists across devices? For example, using a different phone or tablet with the Google Home app will help us narrow down the issue a bit more. For now, I'd recommend clearing out the cached app data on the Google Home app.

As mentioned in previous reply, the issue persists to the multiple devices. Tried pixel phone, oneplus phone.

 

Clearing cache also did not work.

 

Were you able to reproduce the issue?

Oh, my apologies; I must have glossed over that by accident. It's interesting that the Virtual Remote is functioning properly in all of the apps aside from Netflix. In this case, it may be best to reach out to Netflix Support to see if they are aware of any issues on their end regarding the Chromecast app. Here is how to get a hold of Netflix support.
