Chromecast with Google TV setup not accepting tv remote power button

When setting up the Remote Control to control the TV by IR, I am able to confirm that the Volume and Input buttons work, but it is not asking if the Power Button worked.  The remote is correctly controlling the TV (for volume up & down and mute and input selection AND Power Off and Power On), but the chromecast is not asking if the Power button worked, hence not accepting the IR TV control setting.

All FW up to date.  I have tried other TV models with the same IR code map.

Hi @kentb!

Thanks for posting in the community.
I’m sorry for the inconveniences that you’ve been experiencing with your Chromecast with Google TV Voice Remote. I understand that you were able to configure the buttons on the voice remote and you are able to control the TV, but during the setup it didn’t ask you if the power button worked. No worries, help is here.

Let’s reconfigure the control again by following the next steps:

  1. Go to Settings, then go to Remotes & Accessories and finally hit on Set up remote buttons.
  2. Select the device to troubleshoot, for example, a Sony TV, then go to Set up buttons and reconfigure the Power button.

Keep in mind that the remote won't be able to control the power of some devices and/or models.

In the meantime, you can check the next article: Set up volume, power and input control on your Chromecast Voice Remote

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.

Like I originally said, I have done the setup.  I also indicated that the remote worked and turned the TV power off and on, but the ChromeCast failed to allow me to say that it worked.  Obviously a bug in the ChromeCast.

I was wondering if anyone has backdoor combinations for fault finding/manual settings.

Hi @kentb!

Thanks for your reply and for the clarification.

As I can see that you have also tried using other TV models with the same IR code map, but it is still not finishing up the process and not asking if the power button works, I will suggest you perform a factory reset to the Chromecast with Google TV and to the Voice Remote and then try again the process.

You can check the next article for further information: How to factory reset your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer and Factory reset your Chromecast or Google TV Streamer Voice Remote.

Tell me how it goes.

Regards,

Daniel.
