Just like my subject line, my Chromecast with Google TV has an extremely low internet connection speed when using the ethernet adapter. I have tested the same ethernet cable on another device and the speeds 96% faster. At present it is not enough for 4K content. I have done several resets and a factory reset with to change.
I wanted to try the speed with WiFi but it usually will not connect even though the router is a couple feet away. It did connect once and the speed was 15Mbps. Using another device about 16 feet from the 5G router indicated a speed of 171Mbps.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thank you.

Hey there Kevy,
That is pretty strange; the Chromecast with Google TV speeds shouldn't be that low considering how much speed your other devices are getting. First, I'd make sure your Chromecast's firmware is up-to-date. Then, go ahead and turn off and turn back on the Chromecast. Finally, if the last step didn't help, go ahead and factory reset the Chromecast device.
I look forward to your response, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know!
Best regards,
Jeran

I reset the device several times using the restart option in the settings menu. I also tried to reset by removing the power cord. Still no change. I then did a factory reset and again no change.

Hey there Kevy,
No problem at all, it looks like there was a new Chromecast with Google TV firmware update released recently. Would you be able to update to the newest firmware version and try again? I would also check out this article and follow the troubleshooting steps listed to see if they help at all.
Best regards,
Jeran

OK, I did the Oct 2022 update and retested.
Google TV using a 5G WiFi connection = 197 Mbps down and 33 up.
Using the ethernet conncection = 10 Mbps down and 22 up.
A laptop using the exact same wired ethernet connection = 583 Mbps down and 30 up.
These numbers do not make sense, the Google TV must have an internal issue.

Hey there Kevy,
I agree, that doesn't seem right at all. In this case, you may want to speak with Chromecast Support, as they would have more tools to dig a little deeper into this. To have them reach out to you via e-mail, please go ahead and fill out this form. Just let me know when you do so.
Best regards,
Jeran

Hey there Kevy,
No problem at all! Thank you for doing that. You should have someone from Chromecast Support reach out within a few days, so keep an eye out for the email. In the meantime, let me know if you have any more questions that I can address. Otherwise, I'll go ahead and lock the thread within 24 hours.
Best regards,
Jeran
