There has been issues with bluetooth audio for some time but has gotten worse since last update. You will get no sound at all in hbo max, or in disney+ with most content, amazon video cant have surround enable in settings, youtube loosing sync every now and then, apple tv cant have surround enabled either. This is a device problem not an app issue.

Don't bother using multichannel surround sound over Bluetooth, because it won't work.
If the applications you use don't offer the possibility to select a separate stereo stream, disable the surround sound option in Chromecast device sound settings. When surround sound is disabled, the Chromecast device will activate the downmix protocol which will deliver stereo sound over Bluetooth audio.

It's pretty annoying to have to turn off the surround every time I want to use bluetooth audio. I use surround sound with my soundbar.
Is there no other fix?

If you like, you can set the Chromecast device sound settings to Auto.

Surround Sound can only be toggled on or off.
Auto only applies to Surround sound format selection, and it's already on auto.
