Device Extremely Slow + Casting and Apps not working even with Internet connection

I have owned my Chromecast with Google TV (4k)  for more than 2 years.  I only just started experiencing problems.

Even though I did a factory reset and rebooted everything in my tech chain here are my issues:

  • Netflix app doesn't open. I get Error  "Netlfix has encountered an error. Retrying in xx seconds Code: nw-3-6"
  • Amazon Prime app gives an error without code that says: "Problem Occurred: We're experiencing a temporary problem. Please try again later. Some issues might be fixed by restarting the Prime Video App or your device."
  • YouTube app is running extremely slow and takes quite a while to buffer any images or audio
  • Chromecast does not show up as a casting option on any of my computers which are running successfully on the same internet network with no problems. I'm trying to use the cast tab or screen cast options.  I have both PC and Mac computers.
  • My android based VR headset cannot  cast to the chromecast either.

I can cast from my android phone's YouTube app but transmission is VERY slow.

Everything worked before but not it just doesn't work.  Please help.

Here is what I have already done to troubleshoot so far:

  • I performed a hard restart on my Samsung TV (Samsung 8 Series (49))
  • I rebooted my entire DSL and WiFi router system
  • I checked that the firmware on my router is up to date
  • unplugged the chromecast from HDMI for at least 1 minute then replugged
  • Did a regular restart of the Chromecast several times
  • performed a factory reset of the chromecast TWICE
  • uninstalled and then reinstalled the netflix app
  • cleared the cache of the netflix app

Hi SkyD,

Thanks for posting and for being a step ahead of us. Based on your description, this seems to be closely related to the network. Things like this happen even with a fast and consistent internet connection. Let’s try to isolate it by disconnecting your Chromecast device from your home WiFi and connecting it to your phone’s mobile hotspot. Observe if the behavior persists. The outcome will give us an idea of which device (Chromecast or router) needs correcting. We look forward to your response.

Thanks,

Kimy
