Google TV Streamer 4K Authentication isn't successful

Until yesterday, my Chromecast was functioning properly. However, it abruptly stopped working, and I am now encountering an error message on the Google Home app stating that my device cannot be authenticated. I noticed that the serial number on my device indicates that it was manufactured for Sweden, but I am currently located in Finland. Could this be a regional issue causing the error?

Hi JohnFer,

Thanks for reaching out to the community! I understand that your Google TV Streamer (4K) abruptly stopped working, and you're now seeing an 'cannot be authenticated' error in the Google Home app. You suspect this is due to a regional mismatch—a Swedish model currently being used in Finland. No worries, I'm here to help!

Since the electrical supply and plug types are the same, a device manufactured for Sweden should work perfectly fine in Finland, without the need for any adapters or converters.

To isolate the root cause of this issue, I have some questions for you:

  • Does the 'cannot be authenticated' error appear immediately, or only when you try to cast something?
  • Is that error message appearing only in the Google Home app, or is it also showing up on your TV screen?
  • Have you already attempted any troubleshooting steps? If so, which ones did you try?
  • Is your Google Home app updated? Please check out the following link for your reference: Update the Google Home app

I look forward to your response.

Sincerely,
Juan
