Google TV Streamer - Ambient mode

I post here, because I found the feedback hub not very effective.  First of all, I just got the Google TV Streamer as an upgrade from the original Chromecast.  One of the reasons I stuck with the brand was because of the Ambient mode.

When activating Ambient mode on the streamer, after some time the connection times out and the streamer returns to standby rather than remaining powered.  It's like it doesn't detect a TV and powers off.

After that, my suggestion to Google would be to allow programming of the 'favourite' button to lead directly to ambient mode, or allow ambient mode to be the default at power-on.

I have not worked with Streamer yet.  But, what you are seeing is how the Google TV interface works.  When it powers on it goes to the menu system.  You can push the back arrow right a way to go to Ambient.

Also, you can set the amount of time that it takes before the device goes to sleep so that it displays Ambient longer (I did that with my Chromecast with Google TV).  Go into the settings in the top right corner.  I believe it's called Power Saver.

You can tell Google what you would like by using the "Send Feedback" option:

Google doesn't read every post in this forum but they do read and track all the feedback they receive that way. Just so you know, they won't respond directly to feedback so don't ask them any questions.

Just to add to this, it is the same on the Google TV Streamer and the power setting is called Shut-Off timer. Mine is set to 20 minutes by default but can be set up to 24 hours or Never.

Thank you! Yes, I did eventually discover this setting.  I understand it's purpose, but if people don't go looking deeply for it, it becomes an unfortunate feature miss.  I also discovered that if I turn on my TV directly without using the streamer remote, it will default to ambient as well.  Cheers!

Yes, I did also send feedback through support.
