Google TV Streamer and HDMI CEC connection

As other members I have experimented the issue that the streamer connected to the HDMI CEC of my Samsung TV continously change the input and make impossible to see other sources of the TV (SAT, terrestrial TV, DVD etc ..). I solved following the indication found in other posts of the community by switching off the functionality fo HDMI-CEC, but I loose the possibility to use a remote control tool for both, the TV & streamer. I should alway use 2 remote control tools. Is there any other way ? Have Google planned any upgrade to allow HDMI-CEC working properly ?

Hello, can you please turn the HDMI-CEC back on and then go to the remote control settings, then go to the section where you setup the power button and select the TV(CEC) option?

Let me know if that option fixes any issue.

following your indication, the remote control tool of the Samsung TV can control the Google Streamer but the other defect appears again because after few seconds the TV switches by itself to the Streamer and it is not possibile to watch normal TV

Thank you for clarification.

I wonder if your TV is connected to the internet?, if so did you make sure your TV the firmware of the TV is up to date?

Another option is to try by resetting the TV to factory settings, not sure if you already tried that.

Hi @Sfera ,

Thanks for posting to the community! I understand that when your Google TV Streamer is connected via HDMI-CEC, your Samsung TV continuously switches inputs, making it impossible to watch your other sources like SAT or DVD. While turning off HDMI-CEC as suggested in the community forums stopped the jumping, I see it also prevents you from using a single remote for both devices. I know how important it is for your setup to work seamlessly, and I appreciate your efforts in troubleshooting this as well as checking for similar issues in the community. I'm happy to assist.
In the meantime, lets try the following troubleshooting to resolve the issue:
  1. Restart your Google TV Streamer by following these steps:
    • Unplug the power cable from the streaming device.
    • Leave it unplugged for one minute.
    • Insert the cable back into the streaming device
  2. Check if the streamer has the latest firmware update.
  3. Perform a factory reset by press and hold the button for 10-12 seconds on the back of the device. The LED should start to blink yellow.
    • When the LED light turns solid white, release the button, and the device should then reset.

@branches78, thanks for jumping in.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

Beula
