I replaced my 2nd Gen. Chromecast for Google Streamer and I'm having multiple issues and inconsistencies that are making me crazy.
1 - I used to be able to say "Hey Google, play Suits" and my Home Speaker Assistant would say "Sure. Playing Suits from Netflix", turn on the TV, and stream the show from where I left off.
Now, Assistant says the same thing (adding "on Living Room TV"), does nothing, then says "Sorry, I don't understand". I have to use the remote.
2 - If the TV is already on and I tell the Assistant to play Suits (or something from another service) she says sure, etc, then brings me to the preview screen for the show but doesn't play it. Again, I have to use the remote.
3 - During playback, sometimes I say to pause and Assistant says back "Sure, pausing Suits on Living Room TV." WHY? It used to just pause it, without talking!
So now to pause: Assistant will either do the long response then pause, or just pause and say nothing (which is preferred) or will listen to me talk (I see the speaker light up and while I tell it to pause) but then does nothing. This makes no sense!?!?
So then it's back to the remote. Again. GRR!!
4 - I used to be able to go to my phone during streaming and see the widget for whatever streaming service was playing OR go into Google Home, tap the Living Room TV tile, and control volume/playback from there. No widgets, and the TV tile in the app says something about remote settings which didn't do anything either.
I've tried the brief response setting, made sure everything is in the same Google Home room, on the same network. I've toggled voicematch. I uninstalled and reinstalled streaming apps on both Home app and Streamer. I've turned the microphone for the remote on and off.
Why can't I stream like I did with Chromecast? The Home Speaker did everything, hands free, and mostly without lengthy responses.
I just want the same for the Google TV Streamer.
Please help!
