Google TV remote infrared isn’t working

Google TV remote infrared is not on. I tried with new batteries with no luck. Any troubleshooting help? I bought them around 2020 November time frame

Unpair the remote, add it again and re-pair it. Lastly, add a video or audio device and reconfigure the remote buttons.
