Google TV remote is not connected and i have to keep resetting and reconnecting

Hi,

I am getting extremely frustrated with the Google TV remote. They are quite expensive and I have already replaced it once. My younger brother has also replaced his once. The remotes keep losing signal, buttons not working, I have to keep resetting the remote's bluetooth connection with the Google TV using my LG tv remote. My first remote broke after a year and i bought a new one at £20 after already paying £59 for the Google TV 4K when it first hit the market. the HD version is now around £34 which means the Google remote costs more than half the price of the Google TV.  My replacement is now playing up. it loses signal everytime i swith my TV off and I have to keep resetting the connection, a problem I  wasnt facing when it was brand new. I've replaced batteries, reset the TV, kept it updated and nothing is working. Am I going to have to pay another £20?? Its marketed to be "Sustainable" yet I  have to keep replacing my remotes so it isnt really sustainable now is it? I'm going to be on the hunt for a good knock-off product because I've had my TV since 2021 and my remote hasnt broken or had to be replaced so clearly this is a ploy by Google to get customers to keep wasting money replacing prodcucts instead of making reliable hard-wearing products to begin with.

Yeah all the Google products are garbage. All the batteries don't last long and once the battery dies it won't connect to anything.

Hi Ismail2590,

Thanks for posting in the community!

I really understand your frustration with the Chromecast Voice Remote. It's really frustrating to have to replace a device, especially when the replacement loses the Bluetooth connection signal. Don't worry; I'm here to help! Just to get started, can you please help me confirm how you performed the reset to the Voice Remote.

Here are some steps that might solve this situation:

  • Remove and reinsert the Voice Remote's batteries. Check if the LED blinks.
  • Unplug the USB-C connection from the Chromecast to disconnect it from the power source and reboot the device. Leave the Chromecast unplugged for one minute, then plug it back in.

I hope this helps! If you have more questions for me, feel free to reply to this post. I'll be happy to assist further!

Best regards,

Nery.

I have done all of these things. Now my brothers remote has failed after 3 months of using it. It doesn't work at all. Why are these products so badly made. I think I'm going to look on Amazon for a remote that will work with it bc I don't think it's worth it to spend another 20 gbp on a useless remote that will break after a few months

Hello Ismail2590,

I understand how frustrating it must be that the Chromecast Voice Remote is not working as you expected. So don’t worry; let's explore more options.

  • Performed a factory reset on your Chromecast Voice Remote:
  1. Remove both batteries and wait five minutes.
  2. Reinsert the batteries while pressing and holding the Home button.
  3. Continue to hold the Home button while the LED light turns on and stays solid.
  4. When the light starts to pulse, release the button.
  • If the remote doesn't pair automatically, press and hold the back and home buttons for three seconds.
  • If the remote still doesn't pair, use your phone as a virtual remote control to select Pair remote or accessory on the TV screen and then factory reset the remote again, wait for the remote to appear on the screen, and then tap the select button on your phone.
  • If the remote still doesn't work, factory reset your Chromecast with Google TV:
  1. Check that the Chromecast is plugged into the TV and turned on.
  2. Press and hold the button on the back of the Chromecast.
  3. Continue to hold the button while the LED light turns on and blinks yellow.
  4. When the light turns solid white, release the button and then wait for the device to reset.
  5. Factory reset the remote again.
