Google tv opening page just shows app buttons.

After an update on my wife's Google tv remote the usual landing page only shows a row of the apps she uses and nothing else. No recommendations or anything. I've gotten rid of apps she doesn't use and deleted gtv and reinstalled all with no results. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Hi Nonreality,

 

Thanks for reaching out — let’s see what’s going on. The apps only mode must be turned on from the settings. Try to switch it off by following these steps:

 

  • From the home screen, scroll right to your profile and select Settings.
  • Select Accounts & Sign In.
  • Select the primary Google TV account.
  • Select Apps only mode. Switch it off.

Didn't work. I can see the regular page try to load but it always fails and defaults to the apps mode. The mode was off but I tried turning it on and rebooting then went back and turned off apps mode off apps mode . It's on my wife's tv which is the same version as the main tv but just won't load correctly. I'm pretty sure this happened on the last update which was a refusing of the main page. I've reset a few times, got rid of excess storage and not sure what to try next.  Btw,it always says an error after it tries to load the main page but it only offers a retry which does nothing. Thanks for the help though, I really appreciate it.

Got it! I understand that you’ve reset it a few times already, we may need to do it one more time and redo the setup. This time, connect it to your mobile hotspot until the completion of setup and observe.
