Green square outline

My chrome cast started popping up a green outline square and it an audio remote voice also comes on

Hi,

It sounds like your Chromecast may be in Ambient Mode, which displays photos and other information on your TV when the Chromecast is not actively streaming content. The green outline square is likely the Ambient Mode notification icon.

The audio remote voice you're hearing is the Google Assistant, which is built into some Chromecast models. The Assistant can be used to control your Chromecast with voice commands.

To turn off Ambient Mode and the Google Assistant, follow these steps:

1. Open the Google Home app on your phone or tablet.

2. Tap the Chromecast device you want to adjust.

3. Tap the Settings icon (gear icon) in the top right corner of the screen.

4. Scroll down to "Ambient Mode" and toggle the switch to "Off."

5. If you want to turn off the Google Assistant, scroll down to "Voice Match" and toggle the switch to "Off."

After turning off Ambient Mode and the Google Assistant, the green outline square and audio remote voice should no longer appear on your TV.

ElopeS, we hope that helps but, if you're still having trouble, could you please share a photo or video of the issue so we can have a better view of what's going on? In the meantime, please make sure the Chromecast is plugged in securely in the HDMI port on your TV. Rebooting your devices and plugging it into a different TV screen might also help.
