Local Devices

I have a device listed in Local Devices in the home app. I know that this means the device is on my network but hasnt been set up, and can't be deleted. However, I did set up the device already. The same device is set up, assigned to a room with a different name, and i can cast to it. I believe this happened when I re-set the device. It created the new device but didn't delete the old one. Ifni remove the new device, then I have two entries under Local Devices with the same name. How do I fix this?

Hi @Bbrruunnttoonn6!

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear that the Google Home app shows you a duplicate device and assigns it to local devices. I appreciate your efforts in taking those measures earlier. I'll be happy to help you!

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • Which Google Nest device do you have?
  • Do you have the latest version of the Google Home app?
  • When you try to remove the device, do you get any error messages?
  • Does the duplicate device show as offline?
  • Does the duplicate device show you the option to add it to a room?

Please keep me posted. I'll be waiting for your response.

Best regards,
Geremi
