Looking for help with turning off Randomized MAC

HI,

I have been over the guidance on how to turn off randomized MAC but they aren't working for myself.  we are using MAC security on our network and need to add the MAC, I have tried to connect to the network and it has failed as per your guidance but i am not able to find the Advanced options as described, i have enabled developer options but this has made no difference.  I'm unsure if the MAC secured network not having a password on it is making a difference but i can't see why

  1. To fully set up the device on an open network to receive the OTA. - Done
  2. Complete setup of the device. - Done
  3. Go to the Chromecast with Google TV Settings and try to connect to the MAC address filtered network. - Done
  4. The connection will fail because the MAC address is randomized, but this will allow you to switch to using device MAC and then re-connect to the network. Toggle to randomize MAC first then toggle back to Use device MAC - No option to do this

Hi PaulAM87,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. The Chromecast with Google TV’s MAC address is found in Settings > System > About > Status > MAC address. You won’t see an option for randomizing the MAC address. The Chromecast device is intended to work on a secured, non-complex home WiFi (WLAN) type of network. It doesn’t require any port opening or forwarding; you can if you want to, but it would function as it should even without it. You can try to set it up on another network or a mobile hotspot just to prove its functionality. That way, we can identify if the network you’re trying to connect it to is too complex for the device. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Kimy
