Unable to Store Media on External Storage

I know that this has been asked before, but those posts have all been closed. I have a Chromecast with Google TV and bought a 128GB flash drive to store apps and videos. I formatted it as device storage and can transfer some apps to it fine. However, I can't store videos because the device doesn't have permissions for the external storage. The file storage permission for the X-plore file manager has been granted. The bootloader unlock has been patched, so I can't even root it.

Having one drive for apps and one for everything else is not a good solution.

Hi DramaKing,

Thank you for reaching out to the community. I’m sorry that you’re experiencing troubles transferring store media with an external storage device with your Chromecast with Google TV. I understand how frustrating this can be. Let’s work together to find a solution.

I just wanted to confirm if you did the following steps to connect your external storage:

  • Connect your streaming device to your TV's HDMI port.
  • Connect the USB-C hub to your streaming device.
  • Plug the USB-C charger into a power socket, then connect it to the power delivery port of the USB-C hub.
  • Connect your USB storage device to the hub. You'll get a prompt to reformat the storage device.

Note: These steps aren't intended for the general use of your Google streaming devices. There's no guarantee this method will work in all types of setups and scenarios.

Please keep me posted. I look forward to your response.

Regards,

Byron
