Why can Roku remote control my Proscan TV but not Chromecast remote?

Edit: Nevermind. Setting it up as an RCA TV instead of Proscan worked for some reason...

Would like to control my TV's (Proscan PLDED5069-C) volume and power with the Chromecast remote, but it fails to setup correctly. Meanwhile, my Roku (Ultra LT) had 0 problems controlling my TV with its remote.

Why is this the case? Is there anything I can do to fix this issue? If I can't just use the one remote like I can with the Roku, I'm going to return this Chromecast and just keep using the Roku.

Nevermind. I was able to get it to work by setting it up as "RCA" instead of Proscan. Just saw some people mentioning they had RCA TVs in a Reddit thread and for some reason this worked.

Dumb that it doesn't work by setting it up as a Proscan TV, but at least it works...

Hi Larry7,

Thanks for posting here in the Google Nest Community. Although not all brands and models are available, users can just do the trial-and-error approach to find which option would work on their particular TV. I’m glad that you finally sorted this out. Let us know if you have other questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Kimy
