i'v had my chrome cast for about 1 year now and just recently when I turn on the cast it boots and says chrome cast, then chrome cast again, then google G and cut off it never completes the cycle. If I can save it before I buy another then ok but if not then I'll take it apart to see why it's malfunctioning, I think I can upgrade anyway. thank you

Thanks for reaching out. Let's check this further.
Quick questions: what type of Chromecast device do you have? What's the LED status on your Chromecast? Please unplug your Chromecast and plug it back in on a different HDMI port on your TV. Rebooting your Chromecast and Wi-Fi router might also help.
If the issue persists, perform a factory reset. Here's a guide: How to factory reset your Chromecast.
