Update, doing a factory reset did resolve the problem. Battery voltage reported under Technical Info had been hanging around 3.65. After reset 3.87.

At least you got a message! Ours installed 2 and a half years ago just cut out with zero warning @4:30 am on a March 12th morning with unseasonable sub-zero temps.
