I didn't say they wouldn't fix it. I said this update only applies to
Chromecast devices and only on those devices will they fix the problem.
I'm sure other devices will receive the update in the future.
Keep in mind that the Chromecast HD has a different processor. RAM isn't
a factor because deinterlacing is a hardware process (built into the
processor), not software. In this case, the issue could be with the
drivers or the Android kernel itself.
