I’ve heard that before, So far so good no problem with temperature changing, i have 3rd generation , which has a lock feature.

I took a picture of my wire connections before I removed my old thermostat I had a total 6 wires Blue wire / C wire was not connected, my Yellow wire was connected Y on the old thermostat, the Nest has Y1 and Y2, I connected to Y1, no problem turning...

You, probably tried resetting already also make sure you’re device code is correct, use the IR code to set it up, good luck
