Thanks for checking in guys. As I mentioned it's been working fine since the last remote reset. I'm just avoiding the software update as it was after attempting that that it seemed to crash the worst.Cheers.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I managed to reset it again and then if I didn't perform the available software update it would recognise batteries again fine and I was able to setup remote functions again. I'll wait a while before running the next update.
