I deleted both Apps and started again.

OK I fixed it. Problem was I installed nest first so it had setup seperate homes for nest and Home. I started from the beginning and setup Google Home first. Chose other thermostat which then promps to open Google nest. In nest I could select my home...

I have the exact same problem. Can connect thermostat to nest app fine but not to home app.
