That's a great question. That's how it was wired with the old transformer so when I upgraded the transformer I just kept the wires in place. I'm not aware of another doorbell or chime.

Okay. Tested without the puck and the doorbell looked powered off if the puck isn't connected to the chime.I also checked the voltage coming across the chime when the doorbell is rung and it's something like 14V.

That kind of makes sense. The old puck was a relay to the chime. The new one seems to be in parallel. I'll try removing and see what happens. Thanks.
