Well, you just told me I can't get the update for unknown reasons. Thanks for that, I guess. My concern is that there is an update that might fix my problem and I can't get it. I guess my question is how do I get it or when might I get something else...

I tried this procedure and nothing changed. I then performed two back to back factory resets using the button on the Chromecast, and set it up again on a new wifi network. Still no available updates, still on the July patch.
