Connecting to assisting Nest device

I keep getting a message that says my doorbell can’t connect to assisting nest device. I have a google nest and have downloaded the google home and nest apps. Why is this so hard to do?

im just trying to hook up a doorbell. was thinking about the thermostat but having these issues is making me have second thoughts.
