Nest Hub and Nest Audio "can't read messages yet"

I just set up a Nest Hub and a Nest Audio, and when I say "Read me my last text message", the Nest Audio replies that it "can't read messages yet". I unplugged the Audio and tried it on the Hub and it said the same thing. I've searched for solutions ...
