Nest 3rd Gen E-74 error after installing C-wire adapter

The battery on my 3rd gen Nest thermostat wouldn’t charge so I installed a google nest c-wire adapter at the furnace. Now all I get is an e74 no power wire connected. Any ideas for troubleshooting this issue.
