I did unsubscribe and since then I haven't had this problem. To make the auto leaf or eco mode go away when it is not an option to manually do it, I think this is the solution.

Not a solve here. There is no eco mode on the thermostat or in the google home app. For those with the same problem I found that there is something called Leaf Renew that I think is controlling it. Im sure it was a quick pop up screen where it said “...
