I got mine last week. You're correct, sound definitely is not great but
the alarm functions are nice. I also like how it detects a dark room and
switches to a very dark clock display. (I actually wish I could make the
numbers a little bit brighter.)
I'm thinking the Google Nest Hub may be our best option if Google Home
and/or Google Assistant is what we most want. The screen can be set to
just show the clock when the room is dark, or turn off the whole screen
