All., We can close this with my many thanks to those who helped. I went ahead and got the Nest Learning Thermostat and it works beautifully on my system.What you all do to help us folks with little knowledge is awesome! Keep up the kindness!

I don't have a panel on an inside wall. My system is split. There's one piece outside, and then there's another piece under the house. I think what I'm going to do is go ahead and order the nest learning thermostat. And reading about that and looking...

Hmm. Where do I find the HVAC Control Board? LOL Sorry if that is such a rookie quiestion, but I am! I am not sure if I still have a multimeter I will check in the meantime.

No luck so far. It tells me that I need the nest power connector or a common wire. As I was looking at the wires, there is one more wire that I had not spoken of, because it was hidden away and covered in tape. It is a blue wire. Might that be a comm...
